| TEAM SASK BANTAM GIRLS WIN BRONZE AT NATIONALS |
18 August 2008
- Shayla Shahsavar (Cardinal AAA Bantam) pitched the opening
game against BC.
"It was 0-0 going into the top of the seventh inning between
British Columbia and Saskatchewan when BC scored four runs in
the inning and would hold on for the 4-0 win... Shayla Shahsavar
was outstanding in a losing cause, throwing the complete game
and allowing the four runs, two earned, on six hits and one
walk. Shahsavar would also collect an impressive 13 strikeouts"
- Baseball Canada News
Chelsea Wicks (Cardinal AAA Bantam) was the closing pitcher in
an 8-4 win over host team Lanaudiere. In the third game, against
Alberta, starter Chelsea Wicks got the win, pitching 4 innings
with 5 hits and 1 earned run. Saskatchewan won 4-2. Shayla
Shahsavar threw a complete game against Ontario with 3 earned
runs, 1 walk and 14 strikeouts for a 7-5 win. Team Sask lost the
cross-over game against Quebec but came up big with a 13-3 win
over Nova Scotia for the Bronze Medal. (BC won Gold and Quebec

| UNIFORM RETURN |
11 August 2008
- Parents: By now, most of you have returned your player's
uniform to your coach or manager. If not, we plan to have a
uniform return night the first week in September along with the
Fall AGM. The executive is seeking a Uniform Coordinator (2
people can share this job). The job involves keeping an
inventory of the uniforms, organizing the uniform night in April
(with a lot of volunteers) and sorting the uniforms into sizes
when they are returned. A storage facility is provided. Please
keep checking back for updates regarding the Uniform Return
Night and Fall AGM.

"Fun and
Effective Practices" by Sheldon Sawatzky (Ajarty) to follow.
How to Run Fun and
Effective Practices
is the first of the “It’s How You Teach the Game” coaching
program series. This session focuses on the basic fundamentals
of running practices that make an impact on your players’
development. More importantly this session will give you the
confidence and ability to keep your players coming back year
after year to your sport.
Ajarty Sport
Consulting (ASC) believes coaches, like players, learn best and
have more fun when they are active on the field. That is why ASC
will work with coaches where they will be teaching – on the
field. During this session, each participating coach will:
·
Learn
new and refined coaching methods.
·
Apply
this knowledge to actual coaching situations.
·
Carry
out Ajarty techniques in a controlled practice situation.

| Coaching Applications 2008 |
16 Sept 2007
We are looking for anyone interested or even considering
coaching a Cardinal baseball team in 2008. If you are
considering coaching please
email your name and
what age groups you are interested in coaching. Also,
check your NCCP coaching status. If you need to obtain
your certification please check out
www.saskbaseball.ca for
upcoming theory courses. The zone will pay for your
expenses. Please take advantage of the off season to
complete these courses. If you require your baseball
technical courses, please note that on your email. If we
get enough interest we can coordinate a technical clinic for
Cardinal coaches prior to the 2008 season. Additionally,
the Cardinal zone is committed to coaching development and we
will be having Cardinal Coaches Clinics led by professional

NORTHERN PRO BASEBALL SHOWCASE--Thursday, May 10 |
21 May 2007
Thanks to the
Cardinal Zone Players and Parents for their involvement and
support of the Northern Pro Baseball Showcase. Our
Mosquito A's were great representatives for our zone during the
opening ceremonies and we had enthusiastic bat boys and bat
girls from our Pee Wee and Bantam divisions. It was a huge success because of the promotion and positive
attitudes of the parents and players. Because of this
fundraiser the Saskatoon Baseball Council is that much closer to
their goal of development and improvement of new fields in
Saskatoon. All players will benefit and the sport of
baseball will grow in Saskatoon!
